Update on Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial
More Value News Update, Tuesday 27 July, 2021
The trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday Monday 26th July, 2021 didn’t hold because the Federal Government failed to produce him in court. When the matter was called up, Justice Binta Nyako said the trial cannot continue in the absence of Kanu and adjourned to October 21, 2021.
Even though the court is now on vacation, Binta said the date could be brought back if the prosecution obtains a fiat to allow proceedings to go on. She turned down requests from Kanu’s lawyers to take him out of DSS custody and keep him in Kuje Prison.
Former governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife was in the court. We gathered that he was appointed by Ohaneze Ndigbo to lead a delegation that will monitor court proceedings.
